In Ventura County, 695 women and their families can expect to be impacted by breast cancer this year. The Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation was honored to fund the Ventura County Cancer Task Force and its Three-Year Breast and Cervical Cancer Strategic Plan.
As a result of the work of 35 cancer related agencies who served on the Task Force and provided their time and expertise, the Ventura County Health Care Agency realized it was time to purchase a Mobile Mammography Vehicle and provide healthcare services. The VCMRF equipped the vehicle as the result of a generous grant from the Verizon Foundation.
Supervisor Kathy I. Long, Chair of the Ventura County Cancer Task Force, says, “This mobile mammography program offers underserved women in Ventura County access to convenient and accessible mammography appointments in their community.”
